John David Boyd
(1939-2012) Born in Arkansas, Boyd moved to California with his family while in High School. He began taking art classes while attending California State University of Long Beach, beginning with photography. At CSULB he also taught printmaking for a year part-time before entering Cranbrook Academy of Art. John’s work held his unique vision of outsider art, often depicting the simple pleasures of life.
In 1972, John took a position teaching Printmaking and Drawing at Wichita State University, where he retired 36 years later.
